My SECOND choice in a shooting position during a hockey game would be from the ICE LEVEL CORNERS. Lenses / Focal Lengths: 100-400mm, 70-200mm, 24-105mm, 11-24mm (Creative Shots), Fisheye (Creative Shots), 300mm (for Opposite End of the Rink). PROs: 1) Great view of the action in front of the net. 2) Awesome for capturing face-offs. 3) Good for very tight headshots of players. 4) Decent view for "bench fly-by" goal celebrations from either team. 5) Isolated shots of attacking players carrying the puck can be captured quite easily. 6) If facing the bench, you can capture some nice images of coaches or players during the play. 7) Goal celebrations can look good from any position on the ice level. CONs: 1) Defending players usually have their backs to you unless there are in front of the net. 2) The referee may obstruct the view of scoring chances for certain plays. 3) Coverage at the opposite end of the ice is difficult without a 300mm or 400mm lens on a spare camera body. 4) If your a...
