Looking back on an electric edition of #ArtBaselHongKong ✨ For this year’s fair Hong Kong Tourism Board discoverhongkong and Art Basel co-commissioned a new work by deekaymotion, titled ‘DeePle The People’. The 80-meter-high projection on the Hong Kong Club Building served as a vibrant tribute to the city. The title itself offers a key to the artist's broader mission – a portmanteau of 'DeeKay' and 'People' – one that underscores his interest in capturing human diversity and spirit. ​The 24-second animation depicted a bustling city intersection rendered in the artist's unmistakable style: a nostalgic video game aesthetic infused with joyful tenderness. The scene came alive with dozens of characters of different ages, races, and occupations, all moving through a landscape dotted with recognizable symbols of Hong Kong.
