#ROBOTAJANET | In 1981, Janet was a track standout when a nagging pain in her left leg led her to a doctor. The diagnosis was a shock: she had bone cancer. It would be, as she put it, “my leg or my life.” Doctors amputated her leg at mid-thigh, and Janet began to wear a socket prosthesis. Years later she was "blown away" with another amputee who walked easily and comfortably after osseointegration, so she explored it for herself 🦿🦿 Although she would need another surgery and months of recovery and rehabilitation, Dr. Jason Stoneback performed the surgery at UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital. Today, Janet is working on getting stronger, and looking forward to the day she's able to walk for miles with a normal gait, without pain and with extraordinary control.
