100 Years of Venice! Edward Worthington was Venice’s first mayor, serving from 1926 to 1928. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Worthington was a senior investment member at Worthing & Murfey. He developed a friendship with George T. Webb, who was the executive vice president of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers’ bank and the president of the Venice Company. Webb motivated Worthington to engage in the budding politics of Venice, which ultimately led to his appointment as mayor shortly after the City’s incorporation in 1926. 🥳Join us tomorrow, April 15, at 9 a.m. at Centennial Park to recognize the mayors and City Council members, past and present, who have helped shape our community over the last 100 years.
