Yesterday was a very important day for our family.🥹 After 4 years of temporary residency in Mexico, we have officially obtained our permanent residency. A big step. A step we had been waiting for, working toward, and one that means so much more than a simple renewal of status. This photo reminds us that almost 5 years ago, we left everything behind. Our landmarks. Our comfort. Our life as we knew it. Two kids aged 9 and 11 in tow, hearts full of dreams, and a dose of naivety we don’t regret because if we had known what was ahead, we might have hesitated. And that would have been the worst mistake we never made. Expatriating sounds beautiful on paper. In reality, it means rebuilding a life from scratch in a country that isn’t yours.
