Where’s your oplaysis?
Our team over at the Life is Good Playmaker Project (lifeisgoodcoplaymakers) have a term — oplaysis — which refers to an oasis of play, a safe place to have fun, a space where kids can feel empowered and engaged with their world.
We happen to like that term. And we think that us play-deprived adults could stand to think the same way, too. Because the thing about an oplaysis? It doesn’t have to be a single designated space.
Anywhere can be a temporary oplaysis. The walk from your car into the grocery store is a treacherous lava field. Your over-filled closet (our fault, probably) is a tetris-esque minigame. The sidewalk in the park is a leap frog zone.
Wherever you’re going, bring play with you — and make a space for it. 🐸
