There are days in rescue that break you… and somehow fill you up at the exact same time. Today was one of those days. Our first two donkeys went to their forever home. Not the first we’ve ever taken in… but the first we’ve had to let go. And I didn’t realize just how hard and beautiful that would be all at once. You could feel it… they chose their people. It wasn’t forced, it wasn’t rushed… it was like they just knew. And in one of the most emotional moments, he walked up to me… like he was saying thank you… and then turned and went straight to his new mom. I lost it. Because through the tears, I knew… this was the greatest act of love we could give them. They aren’t just going to a good home… they’re going somewhere truly special. A place where they’ll help heal children who have been through things no child ever should. A place where their gentleness, their quiet love… will make someone feel safe again.
