Texas Tech baseball tied its weekend series against No. 17 West Virginia University with a 4-1 victory Saturday afternoon at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park. A pitching duel ensued before Tech scored the three runs it needed in the eighth frame to take the final lead of the game. Following a 1-1 tied game in the eighth inning, the Red Raiders' batting efforts picked up steam after West Virginia inserted its relief pitchers. “Everybody had a part in it,” said Tim Tadlock, Tech head coach. “It was a really good team win. Fun baseball game. I mean, when games are close like that, they're fun, and it's what baseball's about.” West Virginia graduate relief pitcher Reese Bassinger entered the contest in a 1-1 tie with two runners left on base in the eighth frame.
