Welcome to Day 1 of the James Beard Foundation Chef Action Summit in Asheville, North Carolina. Chef Works was honored to be part of this powerful three-day experience as the official partner of JBF’s Advocacy, Sustainability, and Community Programs. More than 300 attendees, including James Beard Award winners and alumni from the Chef Bootcamp for Policy and Change, came together to explore critical topics such as climate change’s impact on food systems, immigrant worker support, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), sustainable restaurant practices, and financial resiliency. Summit speakers included local industry leaders like Katie Button, Meherwan and Molly Irani, Cheetie Kumar, and William Dissen. The summit also featured hands-on workshops and regional action planning to equip chefs with tools to advocate for real change.
