Red Line riders need to plan ahead this summer. Starting July 6, 2026, Metro will begin major Red Line construction, and trains will not operate between North Bethesda and Friendship Heights. Free shuttle buses will replace train service at Grosvenor-Strathmore, Medical Center, and Bethesda while the work is underway. If you commute through this stretch for work, appointments, school, or events, expect longer travel times and start mapping out your backup plan now. WMATA says the local shuttle will stop at North Bethesda, Grosvenor-Strathmore, Medical Center, Bethesda, and Friendship Heights, with an express shuttle running directly between North Bethesda and Friendship Heights. Save this post, send it to someone who rides Metro, and follow everythingdmvradio for more local updates that matter. #EverythingDMV #RedLine #Metro #WMATA #MontgomeryCounty Bethesda MedicalCenter GrosvenorStrathmore DMVNews TransitUpdate
