After a wet hiccup predicted for early in the week, a long stretch of pleasant weather appears to be on tap to greet the Wednesday opening of popular and productive Central Oregon lakes and Saturday’s ritual opening of Washington’s lowland lake trout season on April 25.
Washington’s traditional lowland opening attracted nearly 200,000 anglers in 2025, according to the state’s Department of Fish and Wildlife, which will stock more than two million trout in hundreds of lakes to prepare for this year’s event.
Oregon’s stocking trucks are also entering their busiest months of the year and have been rolling for weeks.
