No two days are the same for the crisis intervention team in the Clive Police Department. Some calls last a matter of minutes, others a full day.
Clive police officer Andrew Faulkner and crisis intervention specialist Sarah Cunday have worked together on the two-person crisis intervention team since August.
The crisis team specializes in calls that require de-escalation, Clive Police Chief Mark Rehberg said. It takes the calls that patrol officers can't dedicate the time to cover, including people in mental health crisis, homeless individuals who need support, and domestic violence incidents.
But with state money that funds their operations dwindling in the coming years, Rehberg fears the team may have to cease its operations.
