From the shores of Nuakata Island to Milne Bay Province, at the southeastern tip of the country, two rounds of #polio vaccination campaigns have reached children across Papua New Guinea. By overcoming the logistical challenges of delivering life-saving vaccines to remote island communities, this effort was more than just a visit. It was a powerful reminder that every child’s health matters and that no community will be left behind. In Round 1, the campaign successfully reached over 83% of targeted children across 17 provinces. Round 2 now aims to achieve at least 95% coverage across all 22 provinces. Children are receiving both the novel oral polio vaccine type 2 (nOPV2) and the inactivated polio vaccine (IPV), along with vitamin A supplementation and deworming tablets, offering a comprehensive shield against polio and other childhood diseases.
