⛰️ Mt. Baldy - 10,064ft (3067m) Was driving to a different trail when I saw a sign that said summit access was open. Called a quick audible and drove straight to the trailhead. There was a notice that a lot of the area is being closed off starting today for at least the next year due to the Bridge Fire. Pure dumb luck I arrived 7 hours before the year long closure started, and I knew I had to get my summit in. What was supposed to be a 90min EZ run quickly turned into a 2 hour hard climb up chasing the sun. I hadn’t planned to be out in the dark and there are lots of loose rock slides in this area. Have myself a hard turnaround time of 7:40pm (8pm sunset) and I hit the summit with 3 minutes to spare. I have done this climb before but this time was probably my favorite. Not a soul on the mountain nor any wind at the summit. It was completely quiet and serene like something out of a movie.
