We were honored to join North Carolina Governor Josh Stein and the Legislative Black Caucus this morning as the governor signed a proclamation in honor of Black Maternal Health Week. We want to extend a huge thank you to Governor Stein and the members of the Caucus for their leadership in making sure Black maternal health gets the attention it deserves. Here's the heart of it: The U.S. is the most dangerous developed nation to give birth, and in North Carolina, the crisis is even more acute. Right now, Black mamas in North Carolina are twice as likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white mamas This isn't just a policy gap, it's a public health emergency and a reality no family should have to fear.
