After a weeks-long trial and four days of deliberations, a Manhattan federal jury ruled on Wednesday that Live Nation and its subsidiary Ticketmaster have been operating in violation of federal and state antitrust laws. The lawsuit, first brought by the DOJ and attorneys general from nearly 40 states in 2024, accused the company of using its outsized position across ticketing, promotion, and venue operations to shut rivals out of the market. After the DOJ reached its own settlement earlier this year (one that multiple U.S. senators have since called into question), 34 states and the District of Columbia chose to see the case through. Live Nation shares closed down more than 6% on the news. U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian will now determine what consequences the company faces, with possibilities ranging from major financial penalties to a full separation of Live Nation and Ticketmaster. __ #pigeonsandplanes #livenation #ticketmaster #concerttickets #livemusic
