Been around the game of basketball for a long time...and over the last 20 years I still remember those who looked out for a young kid chasing his dream. Charles "Pops" Lovely is at the TOP of that list. After finishing my college career at Cal State San Bernardino, he was the first to pick me up for his teams at the late night Clipper League in Inglewood (Those Midnight games were no joke) and the Drew League (at the old Middle School where you found out quick whether you were cut out to play ball). I remember being the only Filipino guy in the gym, and I'm sure alot of people thought he was crazy for picking me up. But he believed in me, and I did EVERYTHING I could to show Pops I valued the opportunity. We never won the Drew League Championship, but there were some classic playoff battles against some big time players at the time.
