Thousands of Chattanoogans poured through the gates of Erlanger Park on Tuesday night, inaugurating a new home for the Chattanooga Lookouts at a former foundry site most attendees had likely seen from Interstate 24 but never visited before. The $115 million ballpark at the old U.S. Pipe site off South Broad Street hosted 8,266 ticket holders for its first home game, exceeding the stadium’s seating capacity of 8,032 people between assigned seats and group areas.
