Historically, “cat lady” is a sexist trope meant to ostracize independent and/or childless women. If you deviated from your patriarchal role, you were a witch (probably with a super cute black cat!) or a social pariah. It’s a dumb, tired and misogynistic stereotype. Anyone can be a cat lady!!
