Can you imagine sharing this planet with so many wonderous, biodiverse species yet only caring about your own?
That's what's happening with a handful of anti-wildlife members of Congress.
They're pushing H.R. 1897 ā aka the ESA Amendments Act ā in an attempt to dismantle the Endangered Species Act as we know it.
For more than five decades, the Endangered Species Act has saved 99% of species under its care from extinction.
But this bill would unravel that success and put countless species ā like whales, sea turtles, wolverines, monarch butterflies, and manatees ā at greater risk of disappearing forever.
Some things this bill would do if passed:
šŗ Make it harder to protect imperiled species and their habitats
šŗ Make it easier for extractive industries to destroy nature
šŗ Preventing agencies (USFWS + NOAA Fisheries) from requiring measures to mitigate harm from federal projects
šŗ Cap the agencies' already limited funding
