Her Legacy | Episode 16
A champion competitor and civic leader who left her mark both on and off the course.
Dorothy Heitler captured multiple state titles, including the 1949 CWGA Match Play Championship and CWGA Stroke Play titles in 1953 and 1956. She also claimed the 1956 Denver Women’s City Championship, further cementing her place among Colorado’s top amateur golfers.
At the club level, Heitler won six women’s club championships at Green Gables Country Club between 1940 and 1963.
Beyond competition, she played an important role in shaping women’s golf in Colorado, serving on the CWGA’s inaugural course rating and handicap committees.
Away from golf, her leadership extended throughout the Denver community as president of both the Denver Symphony and the Children’s Hospital Auxiliary.
Her Legacy lives on.
