Today, we are crowning actress Millicent Simmonds as our #QueenoftheWeek 👑 Born and raised in Bountiful, Utah, Simmonds permanently lost her hearing at just two months old. Her mother learned American Sign Language (ASL) and taught the rest of her family so they could communicate using the language. She attended the Jean Massieu School of the Deaf and became involved in the drama club where she found a passion for acting and performing. At 12 years old, Simmonds moved to New York City after being cast in the film Wonderstruck. Her film debut earned her multiple notable nominations, including a Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Young Performer and was named a Breakthrough Entertainer of 2017 by the Associated Press. Simmonds went on to star in A Quiet Place in 2018 and its sequel A Quiet Place Part II in 2021.
