HYROX mixed doubles race strategy
Mixed doubles is not one strategy.
It depends on who is fitter and who is stronger.
Here’s how to think about both scenarios.
⸻
Scenario 1: Female athlete is more fit, male athlete is stronger
This is very common.
Strategy:
• Female athlete finishes each station
• Strength stations split closer to 50/50
• Endurance stations lean 60/40 toward the female athlete
Why?
The fitter athlete should absorb more fatigue so both athletes can run well together.
The stronger athlete helps move weight efficiently, but doesn’t carry excess fatigue into the run.
⸻
Scenario 2: Male athlete is stronger AND fitter
Now the strategy is simple.
Strategy:
• Male athlete finishes every station
• Male athlete does more total work across all stations
The bigger the fitness gap, the more work the fitter athlete should take on.
⸻
The principle stays the same:
The athlete who finishes the station is the most fatigued.
And since you run together, that directly impa...
