Forty years after the Chernobyl nuclear accident, more than one thousand engineers still work at the site containing its radiation. The power plant has been a flashpoint in the Russian war with Ukraine since 2022, when Russian troops held staff at the plant hostage for five weeks. Retired worker Dmytro and his colleagues at the plant spend their spare time volunteering for a local defence unit to shoot down drones attempting to hit hidden systems like water and energy supplies.
