It's been 40 years since the 1986 explosion at Chernobyl nuclear power plant which led to contamination of large parts of Ukraine, Belarus and Russia. The BBC has had rare access to Chernobyl and the abandoned city of Pripyat to explore the site, situated in the middle of Russia's war with Ukraine. Radiation in much of the "exclusion zone" around the plant is now at levels low enough to be safe to visit for limited periods, but no one is allowed to live there legally.
