Hi, I’m Dinesh, a doctor at Gold Coast University Hospital. I work in the emergency department, but I’m also involved in research. I have a spinal cord injury and use a wheelchair. 👋 I grew up in Sri Lanka during the war, then moved to Australia as a ten-year-old. I went to school in Byron Bay and Brisbane. I trained as a lawyer first, then became a doctor. When I was in law school, I experienced depression. The doctor who treated the depression inspired me to become a doctor myself. My mum loves to say that by helping one person, we may not change the world, but may change the world for them. That is the essence of medicine, I think. I come to work for our patients, but it never feels like work. This feels like the best job in the world to me. 🫶 I live on the Gold Coast. I love life.
