Dwyer has retinitis pigmentosa, a rare genetic disorder that affects the retina's ability to respond to light. "I can perceive a very bright light source, but I can't see a person sitting in front of me. My other senses compensate, and I'm acutely and differently aware of my environment," said Dwyer, a Paris resident who works in Lilly’s Corporate Responsibility group.
