“I developed a passion for skiing at a young age, and that love of skiing took me all the way to the Olympics—four times so far. But I didn’t get there without a few bumps in the road. When I was 19, right before my first Winter Olympics, I was told I had type 1 diabetes and I would have to give up my ski career. I was terrified but the more I learned, the more I became comfortable with my diagnosis and believed that I could continue my dream of becoming a professional skier.
