Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station has expanded its search and rescue capabilities with the recent addition of a new drone, acquired in April to support deputies and the Santa Clarita Valley Search and Rescue (SCV SAR) team. This technology will assist deputies and Search and Rescue volunteers in locating missing persons, lost hikers, and individuals in distress. Equipped with advanced aerial imaging, the drone allows for faster, more efficient searches, especially in rugged or hard-to-reach terrain. Deputies are currently receiving training to safely and effectively operate the drone and will deploy it during time-sensitive incidents where rapid response and situational awareness are essential.
