In faculty member Catie Leasca’s catieleasca improvisation class, our Year 1 Jazz & Contemporary Trainee concentration is given the space to explore their ideas with openness and curiosity. As first-year students, this process is especially important, helping them begin to understand their instincts, develop awareness, and build a foundation for how they create.⁠ ⁠ Through mindful exploration, dancers are encouraged to learn something from each improvisation, taking discoveries from one moment and carrying them into the next.
