Happy National Volunteer Week! We’re kicking off our week of celebrating the service of our volunteers with a spotlight on Native American Alumni Club board member Shelly Herrera-White ‘95.
“I felt isolated when I came to UNLV as a student from a Northern Nevada Reservation. Now, volunteering with NAAC, I help ensure current students have a different experience. We support the Native American Student Association, mentor students, hold scholarship workshops, collaborate with faculty and staff, and organize the annual Powwow for the Planet. Volunteering allows me to contribute to a welcoming and respectful environment for Native students on campus and in the Las Vegas community. This is why I'm passionate about giving back. I encourage others to find their passion and volunteer their time to enrich their lives and the lives of others.”
Thank you for all that you do, Shelly!
