Yesterday, we had the opportunity to fly 2 of Georgia’s hometown heroes - Emily Cole and Nick Hayes! In 2015, Cole founded the thesavbananas with her husband Jesse. In 2020, the Coles became certified foster parents, welcoming multiple children into their home, while growing the Savannah Bananas organization. From there, they formed the nonprofit organization Bananas Foster with the mission of celebrating the foster care community, while educating and inspiring others to get involved.  Nick Hayes is an educator, football coach, and entrepreneur with 14+ years of service to youth in Southeast Georgia. He serves as Defensive Coordinator at Toombs CountyHigh School, mentoring recruiting-age athletes in leadership, academics, and performance. He also owns 1st Down Lawn Care and Friday Night Christmas Lights, which donates an annual $1,000 installation to a deserving local family.
