After 22 years, galleries1988, widely recognized as the first-ever pop-culture art gallery, will be closing its doors. A longtime hub for artists celebrating film, television, and fandom, with multiple Ghostbusters-themed exhibits over the years, the gallery notes that recent years have been especially difficult, calling the current market “the worst” they’ve seen in over two decades, while also expressing gratitude for the community built along the way. Set to shutter on April 30, a wide selection of prints and original artwork remains available, including Ghostbusters, with most items discounted by up to 70% using code FAREWELL. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the National YoungArts Foundation, with much of the remaining artwork generously donated by the artists themselves.
