They say don’t meet your heroes.
For one young Nebraska volleyball fan, that idea turned out to be wrong.
Harper, a devoted Husker supporter from South Dakota, had admired All-American Andi Jackson long before ever seeing her in person. Drawn to Jackson’s energy and positivity — always smiling, always supporting her teammates — Harper made the six-hour trip to Lincoln last November to watch Nebraska play inside the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
Months later, she got another opportunity.
After receiving a message that she had won a raffle for a behind-the-scenes tour of the Devaney Center, Harper returned to Lincoln expecting a closer look at the program she loved.
Instead, she got something more.
Jackson surprised Harper during the visit, turning what was supposed to be a tour into a personal meeting with the player she had long looked up to.
