A sophomore at Wayne State College is already making an impact on the volleyball court, earning NTV’s Athlete of the Week honors with her early success as a freshman with energy, , and results. Minden's Mattie Kamery said the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level has been special. “I think it’s really cool,” Kamery said. “Obviously coming from a small town, this is super fun. To have the ability to do this and play with this team has been really special.” Wayne State recently competed in a preseason match at the CHI Health Center Omaha, held before a Supernovas match. The game carried added meaning, as it came against Nebraska-Kearney, a program she grew up watching. After spending the offseason competing in sand volleyball, the freshman said returning to the indoor game has been a welcome transition. “Sand’s been really fun, but being back indoors was really special,” Kamery said. “Just to be able to play on the court again was really fun, and it makes it really competitive.”...
