METRO COLLISION ⚠️ Eleven people were injured after a work vehicle collided with a Silver Line Metro train early Wednesday morning, according to Metro officials. Metro says to expect significant delays.
Just after midnight, the last Silver Line train of the day was stationary on the tracks at the Metro Center station when a work vehicle collided with the train's rear. There were 27 riders on the train, according to Metro.
D.C. emergency officials were on the scene to help with injuries. The 11 riders who were hurt have injuries that aren't considered life-threatening or serious, according to Metro. No Metro staff were seriously hurt.
Riders who weren't injured got on another train to continue towards Downtown Largo.
