Top prize. 🏆️ Newhouse students Nathan Olszewski (left), Rio Harper, Dian Ling and Nicole Cummings earned the Chairman’s Award during the 2026 bea.web Best of the Festival awards ceremony Sunday in Las Vegas for their short documentary "Piloting the Past Into the Future." The film had already won a Best of Festival award in the Graduate Student Documentary category when BEA announced the 16 Best of Festival honorees in February across student and faculty entries. The Chairman’s Award is selected from those 16 winners, representing the highest distinction at the annual competition. “Piloting the Past into the Future” was produced as part of a Nonfiction Video Storytelling class taught by Milton Santiago, assistant professor of visual communications, during the 2025 Alexia Fall Workshop.
