A true symbol of courage and service, Jim Lovell passed away at 97 last week. As an #EagleScout and nasa astronaut, Lovell’s impact extended from #Scouting to space. When an Apollo 13 oxygen tank exploded, Jim’s calm leadership under duress helped save the crew. The first Eagle Scout astronaut to fly into space, Lovell earned the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Congressional Space Medal of Honor, the NASA Distinguished Service Medal and two Navy Distinguished Flying Cross Awards.   As if these accomplishments were not enough, Jim proved a huge proponent of Scouting, serving as the Chairman of the National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) Board of Regents for a decade.
