The Collection of Jean & Terry de Gunzburg – Design Masters sale achieved a remarkable $96 million total, delivering a white-glove result and doubling its high estimate. Over more than four decades, Jean and Terry de Gunzburg assembled one of the most important and dynamic private collections of 20th-century art and design. Built through a shared instinct for discovery and a refined sensitivity to form, the collection was largely shaped within their New York residence—described by the couple as “New York on the outside, Paris on the inside.” Objects were not simply acquired, but thoughtfully curated into a living environment, bringing together a diverse group of artists and designers whose works explore line, colour, texture, and ornament.
