A trader allegedly manipulated weather-based betting markets on Polymarket by exploiting a vulnerable temperature sensor operated by Météo-France near Charles de Gaulle Airport. He reportedly bought unlikely temperature outcomes for cheap, then briefly heated the sensor with a portable device to artificially spike the recorded daily high. The temperature quickly returned to normal, but the manipulated reading determined the market’s result, allowing him to profit roughly $34,000 across two incidents on April 6 and April 15 before authorities identified the activity and filed charges.
