Watching her move between French with me and Dutch with her dad so naturally is something I don’t take lightly. As a Franco-Ontarian, I know how easy it is to lose a language when you don’t use it. That’s why we’ve been intentional from the start: one parent, one language. Dutch with Dad. French with Mom. English finds its way in on its own. Dutch books, shows, toys, and yes, the gentle “en néerlandais avec papa” reminders. Not to be strict, but because language is connection. It’s family, culture, identity. Now she’s the bridge between us, growing up with three languages in her ears and on her tongue, and that feels like a gift. #multilingual #multilingualkids #frenchcanadian #dutch #languagelearning
