Senators on both sides of the aisle say they miss working with former Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse, who left office in 2023 with four years remaining in his second term to become the President of the University of Florida. Sasse cited too little substance in the Senate and too much time away from his family. At 54, Sasse is dying of pancreatic cancer. “He never really thought about things as conservative, liberal. He much more thought about issues as future, past,” says Democratic Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia. “Concern not just for today, but for tomorrow and the future. And someone who wasn't distracted by all the noise that goes around us on a daily basis,” says Republican Sen. John Thune of South Dakota, the Senate majority leader, of Sasse. #bensasse #uspolitics #senate #senator
