When the pandemic hit in March,
@sandiegostateuniversity professor Steve Gill knew that SDSU’s Voluntary Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, where IRS-certified student volunteers prepare state and federal tax forms for those making under $56,000 annually at no charge, would be critical assistance for hundreds of people who still needed to file taxes.
Seeking help, Gill recruited
#SDSUAlumni Mason (’11, accountancy/’11 MSA) and Brian Szuberla (’10, MSA) of Hughes Szuberla CPAs, a local CPA firm, as well as Brian’s brother, Andrew Szuberla.
“Our firm decided we wanted to do our part in assisting existing clients with reduced or free services. Taking on some new clients and helping
#SDSU students just seemed like a natural extension of that and when Professor Gill asked for our assistance, it just seemed like the right thing to do.” - Brian Szuberla
