We wander and seek our own routes, forgetting that God is the Waymaker, forgetting that only His way is good. We turn our backs to Him, choosing to follow our own desires. Yet these do not lead where we think they will. They promise much, but end in emptiness, still pursued even when we are warned. But God does not forget us. He does not leave us to stumble blindly, nor does He turn away from us as we have turned from Him. Instead He tenderly calls out to us, with patience and mercy, correcting and drawing us back. Even in wandering, even in resistance, His voice remains: return. It’s not harsh, but spoken with certainty.
