Everything has its desires. Yet none of it is sustained by its own strength. There is One who provides, who has suitable supplies at hand. How great a God who gives till inward satisfaction is produced, and the creature sighs no longer! What we need isn’t always what we desire, and what God gives isn’t always in the way we would choose. Yet, the LORD is a good Father, who gives what is truly good, and in due season. So we look to Him, our eyes fixed upon Him, knowing that He provides and satisfies the needs of every living thing. What have I to want, to worry, if the Lord my God opens His hand and gives what is needed? Not that every desire is fulfilled as I would choose, nor that every difficulty is removed, but that nothing required is withheld. His provision is great, and greatly to be praised! If ...
