ESPN Ben Strauss just published the definitive behind the scenes account of how the Dianna Russini and Mike Vrabel story actually unfolded based on interviews with a dozen sources. In this video: Russini hired a crisis PR expert on Easter Sunday before Page Six even published the photos. She called NY Times CEO Meredith Kopit Levien directly to plead her case going over her own editors. She and Vrabel coordinated their responses to Page Six. Page Six offered to kill or soften the story. All Russini had to do was prove she was there with friends. She couldnt provide evidence. The Athletic asked for text messages, screenshots, hiking photos. She never provided sufficient evidence. She resigned and will NOT be paid out the remainder of her contract.
