What is a day in the life like for a student researcher? 🧑‍🔬 Follow 5th-year PhD candidate Elaine Schanzer around at UC Berkeley’s Innovative Genomics Institute, where she studies T cell biology. Her path into research began while studying Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Puget Sound. Today, she uses CRISPR tools to 1) understand how T cells become “exhausted” while fighting disease and 2) develop strategies for generating “off-the-shelf” cell therapies. “I’m so grateful to be pursuing my doctorate at Berkeley. I can’t imagine a better place for me to train as a scientist.
