Have you ever watched “Game of Thrones”? “Dune”? The new “Superman” movie? If so, you’ve likely heard one of the several languages created by UC Berkeley alum David J. Peterson ’03. Peterson’s love for language was born at UC Berkeley, where the Department of Arts & Humanities offers instruction in more than 60 languages.  Today, Peterson is a pioneer in the field of conlanging, the art of constructing new languages. Best known for his languages Dothraki and High Valyrian, he is the brains behind many of your favorite pop culture phenomena. His latest is Kryptonian, which he created in partnership with his wife, Jessie Peterson. Which language would you want to learn?
