📜 80 years ago, on April 30, 1946, the University of Newark—formed ten years earlier from a small constellation of city schools and colleges—merged with Rutgers University to become Rutgers University–Newark. The partnership expanded access to higher education in New Jersey’s largest city. From the very beginning, this campus was built for opportunity.
