Today, we are crowning climate activist Alexandria Villaseñor as our #QueenoftheWeek 👑 Born in Davis, California and raised in New York, Villaseñor’s passion for climate activism began at just 13 years old. While visiting her hometown in November 2018, she was caught in a smoke cloud from the California Camp Fire, one of the deadliest wildfires in the state’s history. Because of her asthma, she became ill after the fire and spent her recovery time researching climate change and temperature rises that contributed to the severity of the fire. Not long after, Villaseñor joined her local chapter of ZeroHero, a group of American youth climate activists. In December 2018, Villaseñor started a climate strike in solidarity with the Fridays for Future movement in front of the United Nations Headquarters, and the strike continued weekly for over two years.
